Use Magnetic Power Generators For Your Home - How it Works

Are You looking to reduce or eliminate your electrical utility bill? Of course, you are. Let me share something I found recently that solved this problem for me: magnetic power generation.

I was familiar with solar panels and wind turbines for home energy systems, but I had not heard of magnetic power generators. I was not quite sure how these devices worked so I decided to dig into this a little deeper.

Most electrical generation devices use some type of force or energy to turn the shaft of a generator. Dams use water pressure to do this, wind turbines use natural atmospheric wind to do this, and wave turbines use ocean currents. They are all similar, the external force turns the shaft of the generator. Basically what happens is that wire windings of the generator are turned around a magnetic field, and this is what produces the electricity. It's pretty cool, a natural phenomena that all of our electrical generation is based on.

Now with magnetic power generators, the natural force of magnets is what is turning the generator shaft. I am sure you understand how this works, when, as kids, you played with magnets. You found out that when you placed the same polls of tow magnets together they would push away from each other. You could feel those forces and if you were like me, you were quite amazed and mystified on how it all worked. But with this type of generator, we are harnessing this magnetic power to make free electricity.

I also learned that there are easy to follow plans that can be acquired that show you just exactly how to make a magnetic power generator. It can be made on a Saturday afternoon with parts commonly found at your local mega home improvement store. The devices are safe, reliable, take up little space at your home.

3 Mistakes I Made With Making Free Electricity

Maybe you are like me and you were fed up with the rising costs of electricity. Perhaps, like me, you decided to do something about it.

I started looking into ways I could reduce, or even eliminate my monthly electrical bill. I started with energy conservation, but quickly realized there was not a significant amount of savings to be hard in this area. Then I discovered that I could make free energy at home. I analyzed the main ways of doing this with solar, wind, and magnetic power and I learned a few things that might be of some help to you.

Let me describe the three biggest mistakes I make when deciding to generate my own electricity at home.

Mistake One: Getting in too deep with solar power. I thought I could easily make my own solar panels for home use. I didn't realize how much was involved with this, all the soldering and wiring, it was just to overwhelming. Not only that, I realized how easily one of these connections could short out and catch the panel on fire, and possibly burn my house down. No way, I didn't want to waste another second looking into making my own solar panels.

Mistake Two: Getting too far down the road with wind power. I really thought that making my own wind turbine would be a good idea, you know, be able to use free wind to make all the electricity I wanted. Then I started calculating just how big of a wind turbine I would need to make electricity for my home. It turned out that the fan blades would have to be over fifteen feet long! There is no way I wanted my kids around that thing, so wind power at home turned out to be too dangerous for my tasted.

Mistake Three: Not getting into magnetic power generation soon enough. At first I dismissed the idea magnets could make electricity. Man, was I wrong! I learned that there are easy to follow guides available that show you step by step how to make one at home in an afternoon using materials found at a hardware store. I learned that these devices were safe, reliable, and would take up little space around my home.

Don't make the same mistakes I did when I decided it was time to generate electricity at home.

3 Reasons Why Solar is a Bad Idea For Generating Electricity at Home

Perhaps you have decided to be energy independent are make your own electricity at home. Maybe you have read all of the hype on the benefits of solar and think it's a pretty good idea. But has anyone explained to you the main risks of home made solar panel systems? I didn't think so. Let me give you three good reasons why solar home systems are a bad idea and one excellent alternative.

Reason One.

Your home made solar panels are a huge risk to burning your home down. When you make your panel you will have to solder hundreds is small connections. Get one bad one and it can cause a short, possibly catching the panel on fire. There have been several reports of panel fires over the last several years, with most caused by poorly fabricated home made type panels. Your home owners insurance will not cover you for damage caused by a panel fire.

Reason Two.

Those panels take up a lot of space. You say you want a system to make enough electricity to eliminate your power bill? Do you realize this can take up to 1000 square feet of space somewhere on your property. Not all roofs are suitable for solar panel installation. The roof may not face the sun properly, or, if it is an older roof, it may not pass city inspections.

Reason Three

The entire solar panel system takes a long, long, time to pay itself out. Yes, that's right, it could take twenty or more years to payoff a multi thousand dollar solar panel system. Your solar panel installer probably didn't tell you about that part of the equation. You can try to make your own panels, but to do it properly, you will spend almost the same amount in money and time as if you has bought commercial panels.

There is a simple alternative to solar panels: magnetic power generation. It is fairly simple to make your own magnetic power generator for home use with an easy to follow guide. These devices are safe, clean, and don't take up much space at your home. You can make a system to either supplement, or replace, your daily power requirements and make all the free electricity you want for as long as you want.

The Real Story Behind My Search to Lower My Electrical Bills

I don't know about you, but I was disgusted with my monthly utility bills. Seems like they kept rising every year and there wasn't much I could do about it. Sure, I tried the common ways to lower usage like turning off lights, installing those fancy curly bulbs, and properly insulating my windows, but I found that these things did very little to save me money.

I was really frustrated over this until one day I realized I could make my own free electricity at home, and say good bye to utility bills forever. I started researching this important issue and found there were many ways to do this. Solar, wind, water, tidal, and magnetic power were all options for me to consider.

I looked at solar first and realized really quick that there was no way for me to make a panel for home use that would be safe. Panel fires were something I did not want to deal with, especially since my insurance would not cover damage from this. Wind power sounded good until I realized how dangerous these things can be. Those blades can fly off in really windy conditions and who knows how much damage they could cause, or possibly hurt someone nearby. While water and tidal power sounded really interesting, they just were not an option for me at all.

I was really frustrated over my search to make free electricity until one day I learned about magnetic power generation. These devices use their own natural magnetic force to turn the shaft and make electricity. They don't rely on the sun, wind, or water to do the job, and they are so much safer. They are extremely reliable, and can fit in a small space in my garage. It can be made in less than a day with parts found at a hardware store.

So there you have it, my story on how I found an optimal solution for generating electricity at home.

3 Reasons Why Wind Turbines Are a Bad Idea For Home Use

So you have been looking at ways to make your own free electricity at home? Me too. Maybe you have been looking at making your own wind turbine for home use. Seems like a good idea at first, using natural wind to turn your wind turbine and make all that free electricity. I thought this sounded great also, until I looked into it a little closer. What I found is that these devices can be an extreme hazard to have around your home unless you have the right space for them and you really know what you are doing.

Here are three reasons why wind turbines are not a good idea for home use.

1. If you want to be able to have a system that can really save you some money it has to be sized correctly. Do you know how big the fan blades are so that they can adequately generate enough electricity for your house? The blades can be upwards of fifteen or twenty feet long. That's right, and you will need a big isolated area away from the house so that nobody gets hurt around these things. Sure don't want your kids around it.

2. You have to engineer the blades properly, and fabricate them correctly, or they can shear off. The blades are susceptible to breaking off in extreme high windy conditions, time when the blades see the most stress. Unless you really know what you are doing, and you understand material science, stress conditions, and welding technology, you probably won't have the blades built correctly. Ever see a blade fly off into the neighborhood.? I haven't, but I am sure it's not a pretty sight.

3. You have to have your system designed to handle dump loads. You see, the faster the wind the more electricity the turbine will produce. If you get too high a wind then your system can't handle all of that extra voltage and you have to design for it. You really have to know what you are doing or you can easily fry your system and your investment is no more.

So there you have it, three good reasons why wind power at home is a bad idea. There is an alternative that is simpler, safer, more reliable, and easy to make at home: magnetic power generators. You probably haven't heard much about them but you can make one at home in less than a day with parts and materials found at hour local home improvement store. Check into it, and I think you will see why magnetic power for home use is much safer than either solar or wind power.

Water For Life - Tips For Reducing Water Usage

We all know water is crucial for life. We can actually survive intact for up to a month without food, but only three or four days without water. Our use of water has more than tripled within the last century, most of it within the home. The situation with respect to global water supplies may become yet more serious as global warming occurs, but by making some small changes on a daily basis we can all make a difference to our future and that of our children.

Showers and Taps

Have a shower rather than a bath, this can easily save a whopping 20 gallons of water. Install a water-efficient shower with a flow rate of less than 2.5 gallons. Don't leave the tap running when brushing your teeth, etc. Re-use water that you wash your vegetables in for watering houseplants or for cleaning. When hand washing dishes, don't keep the faucet running to rinse them. Instead, rinse them in a bowl or sink full of water.

Toilets

One quarter of all household water consumption goes on flushing toilets. To minimize the amount of water needed to flush, install ultra-flow toilets; they require only 1.6 gallons per flush, instead of an average of 3.5 gallons. You should periodically check toilets for leaks and repair them promptly. You can reduce the amount of water used by an older toilet by placing something inside the cistern, such as a plastic bottle filled with water, to displace the toilet flow.

Washing Machines and Dishwashers

Save energy and water and by not using your washing machine until you have a full load. Likewise, only run your dishwasher when it's full. It's not normally necessary to rinse dishes before loading them into a dishwasher. When purchasing a new appliance, look for a water and energy efficient model which offers several different cycles, including an economy mode.

Water Usage Outdoors

Use a bucket of soapy water to wash your car and use a hose attachment which allows you to turn off the water between rinsing. Driveways and patios can normally be cleaned with a brush, instead of a hose. Check garden hoses and outdoor taps for any leaks and repair or renew damaged ones. Cover your swimming pool or spa to reduce evaporation. An uncovered swimming pool can lose up to 250 gallons of water a week to evaporation alone. You should also make sure your pool has no leaks and repair any you find as soon as possible.

Following these simple tips can dramatically reduce your water usage, making an important difference to you and the planet as a whole.

Insulating Concrete Forms

This type of exterior wall system is becoming more popular due to the surge in green building construction. The first patent for the application of an ICF was registered in the 1960's. Insulating concrete forms or molds have built-in insulation for accepting reinforced concrete. ICF's are stay-in-place polystyrene forms that have proven to be energy efficient, cast in place reinforced concrete walls. This wall system can be used to create residential or commercial structures. Unlike conventional concrete forms, these stay-in-place after the concrete is placed in the wall cavity of the forms and serve as form, insulation, exterior wall sheathing, and in some cases wall studding. ICF wall systems allow for flexible design, and a vast array of architectural styles and treatments. The wall becomes a high performing wall that is structurally sound, insulated, has a vapor barrier, and is ready to accept final exterior and interior wall finishes.

There are many manufacturer's of this type of stay in place wall system. The wall systems can be grouped into three different systems:

Panel Systems are the largest units, as big as 4 feet by 8 feet. The panels typically have flat edges and are connected to one another with extra wall fasteners.
Plank Systems include units of long narrow planks of foam held a constant distance apart by steel or plastic ties. Typically, these planks are 8 foot long and 8 or 12 inches high. The planks have notched, cut, or drilled edges that they tie into. Additionally, the ties connect each course of planks to one above and below.
Block Systems include units ranging in size from standard concrete block sizes and up to much larger 16 inches high by 4 feet long. Along the edges are teeth or grooves and tongues for interlocking. They are able to stack without separate fasteners, in the same manner as children's lego blocks.

The various wall systems types have different cavity shapes - flat, grid, or post and beam. There are structural and architectural advantages for each type cavity.

There are many benefits and advantages of using these wall systems that promote greater comfort and lower energy bills. ICF's have a high R-value. Four inches of ASTM C578 polystyrene foam insulation combined with a five inch concrete wall would typically be rated a R-17. Nothing blows through the reinforced concrete, eliminating drafts, thereby have a very minimal air infiltration into the building envelope. The thermal mass of the exterior wall envelope eliminates temperature peaks and valleys. Energy savings have been estimated to be 25% to 50% for an ICF building versus wood framed or steel framed buildings.

Safety and health benefits include no CFC's, HCFC's, or formaldehydes, and also no wood to rot and mold. Typically the structures provide a two hour fire rating and highly termite and pest resistant. Concrete homes have proven track record to withstand the ravages of nature - hurricanes, tornados, and fires. This safety facet typically relates into reduced insurance premiums. The structures can also eliminate outside noises due to their high sound absorption qualities.

Disadvantages include adding or moving doors, window, or utilities after the building is complete. Concrete cutting tools are need to perform these tasks. Typically, initial construction costs be anywhere from 55 to 15% more than conventional wood built structures.

Look for a future increase in the use of the ICF wall systems. The durability of the system coupled with the push for a green environment and greater energy efficiency will lead the way. Additionally, there are federal energy tax credits for this type of building system that many times stir the interest for utilization.

Pondering the Cost of Wind Energy

The cost of wind energy is the first thing that will come to mind when the subject is raised. Harnessing energy is a costly business, and as such it is generally a deciding factor as to whether people will turn to these alternative sources of power. While there is certainly an initial outlay for the equipment needed, the costs involved will even themselves out and quickly you will see the financial benefits of wind-generated electricity.

It's a superb idea for a backup to a main supply, and with the right equipment you will be able to completely transform the way you harness energy and assert your place in the annals of environmental thinking and conservationism. Most of the costs involved in harnessing wind energy are a one-off deal, and aside from the occasional repair bill, there are few other costs to consider, making it very economical to run as well as being ecologically sound.

The initial costs are naturally a little daunting to some people, yet while the financial issue of erecting a wind farm can seem excessive, the payback in terms of energy is hard to deny. Usually, a larger wind farm is cheaper to create than a small one, however odd that may seem at first. Remember, the more turbines at your disposal, then the greater the amount of energy generated.

In addition, the cost of wind turbines has fallen in recent years, making it an even more attractive concept. Other factors to take into consideration are legal matters, geography, planning permissions and any site- specific issues that need to be dealt with. Wind based energy has the potential to be very helpful to the environment along with your bank balance, and it is being used more and more by private home-owners as well as businesses who want to see what cheap wind energy can do for them.

The Home Power Monitor - How Power Monitoring Can Save You Lots of Money

A home power monitor can help you find the devices in your home that are consuming - and in many cases, wasting power. Then stop it to save money and power.

Attach simple, inexpensive power monitoring equipment at the point where the electricity comes into your home and display how much power you are consuming. Some attach internally in the main power box for your home and monitor the power you draw from there, sending the information to a remote display (if you use this version, make sure you have a qualified person install it as opening the electric panel can be dangerous!). Others attach to the outside of the power meter for your home and send the readings from there. Either way, the information from the power monitoring system is shown on a convenient hand held device, or a desk top display, or on your computer monitor and you get a reading of how much power you are drawing at any given instant. You can then start turning devices off to see how much power draw you can eliminate.

Where this gets interesting is when you think you have all of your appliances and electronics turned off. Then, you'll see how the small amount of power consumed hour after hour by the various clocks, timers, cell phone and music player chargers, televisions, clock radios, VCRs, DVRs, DVD players, cable boxes, etc. and all the other small electronic devices around your home waste watts - for which you pay - all day and all night long.

Plug these chargers and the like into switched power strips so you can turn them off when they are not in use. For example, plug your cell phone and music player chargers into one strip that you turn on at night when you plug the devices in so they can charge overnight while you sleep, and turn it off in the morning when the devices are charged. Plug all of the computer accessories, printers, speakers, monitors - even the computer itself, into another strip that you switch off when you shut down at night and turn on again in the morning.

The power monitor will help you find and eliminate all these watt wasters to save you money on your utility bill, and save the natural resources needed to create that power.

Residential Solar Power Kits - Power Up and Save Big

Who says residential solar power kits need to be complex and expensive? It is a a current reality that more and more folks are discovering that the option of solar power as an efficient and renewable source of energy for there homes is completely within their reach...and their budget.

Think about it. Solar power for you home isn't polluting the atmosphere in which we live and each day the sun comes up your power bill from the local utility goes down. The hardest part that people seem to imagine is the installation of the system. The reality is that by following a few simple instructions and a little elbow grease, you too can install a new system in no time at all.

The internet is now filled with guides and how-to advice on how to design and install your own residential solar power kits. The kits themselves come with explicit instructions and don't forget that the business selling these kits also have helpful individuals who know how they work and how to install them should you have any questions.

Although individual parts can be expensive in putting a system together, kits offer you the best value in purchasing a new system. Most solar power kits on the market now also come in modules that can be added to as you go giving you the flexibility to add on to your new system as your finances permit.

Nearly all systems require you to put the solar panels on the roof where adequate sunlight can charge the system. This requires a solar panel or in most cases several panels. Depending on your power needs will dictate how many panels your will need to install.

You will then need a battery storage system in which to capture the suns energy and a converter system to leverage that power through out your house. Again, the larger the storage system the more power you can store and use throughout the house. You can add to this part of the system as well as your budget permits.

Before getting started with your residential solar power kit make sure to do your homework and add up all the energy you are currently using throughout the house. By knowing how much energy you use in a typical day you will be able to estimate how many panels you need to install depending on how many batteries you will be using. The more batteries you install, the more panels you can put to work on the roof.

Many big home remodeling stores are now selling solar power kits for your home and will give you detailed information on how to set them up and do all the estimates for you current power usage. Again, by doing some simple research online you can familiarize yourself with how each system works and how it all needs to be installed.

Free Electricity by Magnetic Generator

When you create a magnetic electric generator, it will generate free energy on its own to power your entire home. It is one of the ways which a lot of people are using to get off the grid. The magnetic electricity generator is the most reliable source of free electricity. After setting up the initial stage, you will no longer pay a dime for electricity subscription.

Another thing about this magnetic energy generator is that; once you set it up, it continues to work without stopping for a whole lifetime. Build your own and you will become an electricity provider all by yourself - no more power bills to settle; is that not fabulous? Creating this free electricity generator is a simple task which involves the use of magnets to create motion in the generator due to the magnetic force and in turn produces electricity for life; its functioning is self-induced, so it does not require any mechanical effort (man-power). The electricity generated by this effective generator is nature-friendly and that is the kind of thing mother earth wants presently. The magnetic energy generator is very powerful that it can power the whole of your home. This generator can be built to meet your electricity needs no matter how large or small because you can increase or decrease its voltage production to match your requirement.

This system of generating free electricity through the use of magnets has been monopolized by the big electricity companies for too long; they have accrued enough wealth from you and me. It is now time for us to start saving our monthly/weekly income and begin to fatten our accounts and make ourselves happy by building the magnetic free electricity generator; of course there are better things to do with money than paying electricity bills.

You need a guide on how to go about building of this magnetic energy generator. The required components are readily available in your area. The guide will show you how to build the generator all by yourself and own your free electricity generating system. By doing this, you will start to enjoy free service of regular electricity which you are in control. The only thing I need to add is to study the guide and follow it accordingly in order to get the required result and pervert the risk that it might cause. The manual is self explanatory and does not need any interpreter before you know what to do. Make a good decision of building your own magnetic energy generator now and become free for ever.

Solar Batteries

Thousands of years people used the sun to dry their clothes and cook their food. But only not too long ago did the people learn how to make electricity out of the sun. Sun has great power. Humans only need a tiny piece of that power in order to satisfy their daily requirements.

We use solar energy for many things. One of them is to make electricity. When you use solar batteries, they automatically make the electricity out of sunlight. Using them has a lot of benefits. It's quiet, clean and safe.

First solar batteries were used in space, on the satellites. Now they make energy for major companies that provide: television, telephones, navigation, weather reports, internet, etc.

Production of solar batteries is growing very fast and in many different ways. More and more people are them in their houses. This helps save money, and it's doesn't release gases into our atmosphere which makes it "green". You might even get money back from electric companies!

Normal solar batteries are expensive and not everybody can afford them. That's why a new type of solar batteries was made especially for houses. They are fairly cheap if you compare them to the standard ones. You can install them yourself and you don't have to wait for installing services to come. You will save a lot of money using them, making your electricity bills lower. Many people are trying "go green". That means that they recycle and do all kinds of things that lower pollution produced in the world. This is one of the "green" things.

How Efficient Are Electric Space Heaters?

Electric space heaters are very popular. Other fuel costs are rising and an electric heater costs only a few dollars a day to use. There are many different types in a wide price range. You can find a space heater to do what you need it to do - from ones that fit under your desk to elegant fireplaces.

Almost all electric heaters are portable. Even the bigger ones with fans will have wheels so you can move them around easily. You can't get any easier operation, just plug it in. Most will have a thermostat so you can monitor the temperature and not waste heat.

Keep in mind certain things when using an electric space heater. If you follow basic safety rules and precautions, you shouldn't have any trouble with your room heater. Make sure the UL sticker is on the appliance. Don't use money as an excuse to use an unsafe appliance. Doing simple things like keeping curtains, clothes and other flammable items away from the heater will go a long way. Electric heaters can easily overload your electrical outlets so make sure you have a good surge protector.

No one heater can be called the best space heater because what's good for one may not be for the other. No one space heater will be able to fill all the different needs. Even within the same house, people will have different needs. If you want to snuggle up and be cozy when you're watching TV, get a small radiant heater to put at your feet. A heater with a fan is good when you want to heat a whole room quickly. Portable space heaters are well worth the investment that you make.

Outdoor Solar Lights - The Advantage

Everywhere, there is the attempt of making people understand that taking care of the nature and environment, where we live and work, is crucial for our planet's well-being and for us. There are messages everywhere, which tell us that we should be careful about wasting fresh water and electricity. Therefore, it has become very popular to produce items, which will help in the attempt of being aware of nature: solar panels, solar hot water heaters, solar fountains and pumps, solar battery chargers. It has become our reality to power whole building or houses with electricity by using the power of the sun. One of those items is outdoor solar lights.

Outdoor solar lights are very useful and practical. They are useful because they can be placed anywhere without depending on an electrical source. That allows the owner to light even the darkest corners and parts of his garden or parking for the security purpose or for the purpose of art to lighten up a special spot in your garden, like a fountain or some beautiful flowers. However, outdoor solar lights do not find their uses only in private houses. At business properties, you can use them to highlight billboards. At places that are far from any electrical source like boat docks, they are more than welcome.

Their practical side is not using any electricity, monthly costs are none, they are very simple to use and easy to maintain. Very rarely, you need to hire a professional. The Only thing is that solar flood light uses the quartz halogen bulbs, but they last up to three years so can you call it an expense. What is not in favor of solar floodlights is that they cost more than other outdoor solar lights, but if you look it from the other side, you will get that money back on monthly savings.

Outdoor solar lights are not intense lights like other kinds powered with electricity but they are more than enough for the purposes that we have spoken of. They are also more attractive and even more practical now. They are making them with sensors that switch the bulb off when sun rises and switches it on when sun goes down. Therefore, it saves even more energy.

Dummies Guide on Solar Power

Most of us have heard that governments worldwide are trying to agree to reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere below certain levels. This is actually part of the drive to use renewable energy, moving away from fossil fuels and using the sun and wind to harness electricity. But the main question is how does solar energy work? How do we convert sun beams into energy?

Most people know that there are two components in this equation, the sun and a solar panel but less people actually know the process involved in creating electricity from the sun. Let's try to explain in simple terms how this process works. First we need to differentiate between Solar Thermal and Photovoltaic. Both of these methods make use of the sun and a solar panel.

Solar Thermal.

Solar Thermal is the process where the energy of the sun is used directly to generate heat. Typically this will be where we capture the heat of the sun through the solar panel and transfer this heat to water. Solar geysers use this method in one way or another to heat up water for human consumption. The panels normally have pipes running through the solar panel which is called thermal collectors and the water is continuously circulated through this tubing. Another method is also used where anti freeze is run through the pipes and the heat is then transferred to the water which is in a separate tank. As soon as the antifreeze are pumped through the water tank the heat are transferred to the water in the tank. It is important to notice that these solar panels should be placed in such an angle to get the most sun in order to be efficient. Take care however as the water heated up using this method can be scalding hot.

Photovoltaic.

This method uses the suns light and not the warmth of the sun as in the Solar Thermal method. The smallest segment of a solar panel is a cell made of silicon material with certain chemical qualities due to the nature of the silicon material. A lot of these cells will then form a solar panel. When these silicon cells capture the light of the sun a chemical reaction takes place that convert this light into electricity. Now, one cell only supplies a minute amount of electricity and therefore a substantial amount of solar panels are needed to have a significant impact. Furthermore the electricity created in this manner is called direct current and not useable in normal household or for most common purposes. Transferring this direct power however through an inverter changes it into alternating current which can be used in normal circumstances.

Autor: Johann Du Plessis

This is a very basic explanation of how solar power work and how electricity is generated. It is however possible to build your own solar panels and save substantial amounts of money on your electricity bill. Building a DIY Wind Generator at Home, From Theory to Application

Much has been written about building wind generators at home to offset the cost of power and more notably to decrease the need for power production at utility plants thereby helping the environment. Many of the plans that are offered up show the potential builder how electricity can be produced. The issue however is not how to "make " electricity for many potential buyers. It is more an issue of how do we use the electricity we have produced? I have seen many articles written on this subject, many claiming wind generators can be built for 100 dollars or less. This type of "marketing" has led to much confusion with consumers in the wind energy community. I would like to make two points with this article.

First there are basically two types of systems. The first is grid tied interactive, these systems allow power to be stored in batteries and then the excess power that is made to flow directly into the home owners power grid thereby offsetting the need for power from the utility company. Another variation of this is the direct grid tie which operates the same as above but does not use batteries. These systems are somewhat limited in that there are currently few products on the market and most of them do not have UL listings. The SMA windy boy is an example of a product that is direct grid tie connected and has UL certifications but they are currently back ordered and very scarce. These systems are great but they are usually quite expensive and in many case are well over one thousand dollars. They use pure sine wave technology and generate power equivalent in quality in most cases to that of the utility company

Second are off grid systems. These systems can be as simple as hooking a power inverter to a battery bank. The banks are usually made with 12 - 24 or 48 volt systems. A 3000 watt power inverter can be purchase for around 250 dollars. The problem with these cheaper power inverters are they utilize modified sine wave technology and may or may not power sensitive electronics. In the case it does it could be bad for the sensitive items and shorten service life. Additionally who wants to run an extension cord out to the cheap power inverter to power the items in the house? Pure sine wave grid ties are available for off grid applications as well but they generally have the higher cost associated with the grid tie interactive.

So while much attention has been given to the creation of cheap wind generators as a practical matter they have limited use. This is not to say that wind generation is not a cost effective means of producing electricity, my point is merely do not get caught up in the prevalent marketing scams on the web today. I truly wonder how a wind generator is constructed for one hundred dollars or less without a power inverter or battery? Anybody bought a battery recently? There is the one hundred dollars depicted for the total budget cost.... Unless attention is given to how the power will be used before building a cheap wind generator you will surely be disappointed. In the next set of articles we will continue to address the fallacy depicted in the mainstream about wind power so stay tuned.

Learn How You Can Build Solar Panels at Home

If you are searching for information on information on building solar panels, you will need to first understand how the system and various components work together. The technology that is used is called Photovoltaic (PV) power systems. This source of electricity uses solar cells to convert directly the sun rays into electricity. The first thing I would propose to you is to go through some books that talk about solar energy and photovoltaic technology.

To build solar panels, the very first item to look for is the solar cells. Such parts cannot be DIY. One of the places you can source for this is from eBay. You will be able to get some used solar cells there. When handling these cells, be extra careful as these cells are very fragile. If you want to generate 18 volts, then I suggest that you use 36 solar cells with each generating 0.5 volts (V) and 3 amps (A) Direct Current (DC).

For holding the solar cells together, you will have to use a panel frame which can be either purchased or made by yourself. If you are going to buy the panel frame, all you need is to let the sales person know what sizes are your solar cells and the dimension of your solar panel.

You will need to cover the frame with either a piece of glass or pexiglass. Most people prefer to use pexiglass for the front panel as glass is too easily broken. With the frame purchased or made by yourself, you are now all set to start fixing the solar cells onto the panel. Draw grid pattern on the panel frame to mark out the positions where the cells are going to be. Then put the cells on the penciled grid upside down and start to solder them in series. The last step is to hold them onto the solar panel by gluing the centre of the cells.

Now that you have learnt how to build solar panels, you are probably thinking where you should mount them so that they can generate the solar energy. There are a number of examples where you can use your solar panels like, as a form of garden lighting, at your holiday home, on top of your boat and the possibilities are endless. Start to construct these solar panels with your family on a weekend. Have fun!

One of the most important things that you need to have to help you build solar panels is a detail step-by-step guide. There are some really good such guides in the market. When you are selecting a guide, make sure that it has instructional video that show you the steps that you would need to perform. The cost of such guides is generally not more than $50 and they will show you how to build a solar panel for less than $200.

Solar Lighting - An Investment in the Future

Light is something we in the developed world take for granted. It's always there for us at the flick of a switch, and the only thing we need to worry about is paying the electricity bill. This isn't the case in other less developed parts of the world, and if the warnings about global warming come true, it's something we might not be able to take for granted for very much longer.

We have become far too dependent on conventional sources of energy for everyday activities such as cooking and lighting, and it is time we investigated alternative sources such as solar power and wind power because they are ultra clean 'green' sources that can save us money and the environmental disaster that many are forecasting.

Some Misconceptions

For most of us, our experience of solar powered lighting is of road signs and street lights having small solar collectors fitted to harness the sun's rays. It's perhaps not surprising then that the majority of people think that solar lights are only suitable for outdoor use, but that is not the case anymore, solar power can be used for inside the home as well. To avail yourself of this free source of electricity, does mean you will have to fund and install a solar panel, but once you have made the initial investment, maintenance costs are very low, and the power itself is essentially free.

Installing a solar panel is relatively easy but does require a little specialist knowledge. Don't worry tough, you can learn everything you need to know from the Internet, but if you don't feel like it is something you can tackle yourself, there are many installation companies that will take on the task for you.

Once your system has been installed, you will have access to your free source of light both during the day and at night. Your panels will need proper exposure to sunlight during daytime hours though for your system to provide electricity at night time. Even if you live in an area not renowned for large amounts of sunshine, solar lighting is still a viable option so long as your system is designed and installed correctly. In recent years we have seen a huge increase in the amount of money spent on research and development in solar power, the systems that are commercially available are much more efficient at collecting solar energy than they were say 5 or 10 years ago. A small investment in a solar collection system will pay dividends for many years to come, both for the individual and for the environment - it's a real win win solution.

Autor: Ray E Baker

With energy prices at an all time high, it is prudent for all of us to be looking at alternative ways to power our homes and our businesses. One possible way to save money and to help the environment, is to invest a little money in things such as solar lights to reduce out own personal carbon footprints

Saving on Utility Bills is Easy

Utility bills are always on the increase in the rates you are being charged. In the heating and cooling of your home, your use of water and power for all the electric items in your home is getting very expensive. There are a number of proven ways for you to reduce your utility bills which will not affect your lifestyle.

One of the main users of power is your water heater, particularly if you have one of those water cylinders. If you cannot afford to switch over to another energy source like gas (remember look out for government incentives to do so) then reduce the heat setting of your water heater down to 120 degrees. Try replacing your shower heads with low flow (and yes they are not as bad as the Seinfeld episode) as this will help you reduce your use of hot water. If you have any leaky faucets you should replace these as well, as they could be draining your hot water plus they will be increasing your use of water. You could also ensure your showers and baths are not too long where you are just using hot water you don't need to. It is better to take a shower than a bath, as a shower uses much less water.

Do you really need to use a clothes dryer when the sun will do the same plus your clothes will be aired better out in the sunshine. Clothes dryers are huge power consumers and really should only be used when you quickly have to dry something to wear. Replace that top loader with a front loader washing machine. The front loader washing machines are extremely efficient in water use and with anew washing machine it will be much more power efficient than your old one. There is nothing better than natural sunshine and air. The dishwasher is the same as the clothes dryer, a huge user of power and of water. Washing up by hand is not such a bad thing to do, you can still watch your favorite TV show whilst you are doing it or better still have a conversation with your partner as you are doing it. If you are washing up for one, the hand washing of dishes will take no time at all.

Control your use of air conditioning and heating that you use. Use your thermostat to keep it at 65 degrees in winter and 80 degrees in summer. Try using fans in both winter and summer. In winter, ceiling fans can redistribute the heat from the ceiling back down to where you are and a fan in summer is like an open breeze. Is there is a breeze outside, open your windows on the shaded side of your home and get a cross ventilation thing happening. Do you really need lights on all over the home, particularly when no one is in those empty rooms. Switch off those additional lights, replace old fashion light bulbs with the new energy efficient fluorescent bulbs, and where possible use natural light from your windows or install a skylight.
